Subang Jaya Community Youth Football League

a league for kids where no one is paid and everyone plays!

Saturday, 14 January 2012, SMK USJ 4: A coaching clinic was organized for all the volunteers who signed up to be coaches and assistant coaches in the upcoming Season 2012 of the Subang Jaya Community Youth Football League (SJCYFL) at the field of SMK USK 4. The SJCYFL was very fortunate as the Youth Technical Director of FAM himself, Mr. Lim Kim Choon kindly consented to take some time off his very busy schedule and spent it with our volunteer coaches by putting them through their paces.

Actually, the weather was extremely kind to us as it was sunny and yet not too hot. There was also a gentle breeze blowing throughout the entire session which made the temperature very comfortable for all the volunteers. All in all, they were around 30 participants who turned up for the coaching clinic, which in itself was a success as it demonstrated the level of enthusiasm among the volunteer coaches.

Coach Lim not only put the volunteers through their paces, he also shared many invaluable insights on training youngsters. There were hardly any breaks throughout the 3 hour session as all the participants were so enthralled by what Coach Lim had to share.

On of the most important messages that Coach Lim had to share was that at this age group, the focus should be on the development of the kids and not so much on winning games.

When asked, a volunteer coach, new to the League, said that he couldn't wait to get started working with the kids and try to implement Coach Lim's ideas as some of them were a little different to what he was used to.

A great big thank you goes out to Coach Lim for conducting the coaching clinic and another great big thank you also goes out to all of you volunteer coaches for signing up for Season 2012 of the SJCYFL.
