Subang Jaya Community Youth Football League
a league for kids where no one is paid and everyone plays!
Sunday, 04 December, Kompleks Sukan MPSJ: The Under 10 Select Team (Majors) recently took part in a 7 a side football tournament organised by our own local council, Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ). Another early Sunday morning start for the boys (and parents) but at least this tournament was held closer to home.
A pretty large tournament, a total of 24 teams took part at the Under 10 level (and who said that football at grassroots level wasn't thriving?). Our boys were placed in a group that had CIMB YFA B and Gen-Pro B, both of which are well known for producing good footballing youngsters. All matches were keenly constested and at the end of the Group matches, it required a 3 way penalty shoot out to determine as to who went through to the quarterfinals. Good thing our boys had their shooting boots on as well as having fantastic keepers.
Despite the sweltering heat, the boys took on MBSA (a football academy under the Shah Alam City Council) in the quaterfinals and the match ended in a thrilling 0-0 encounter. Once again, penalties were needed to determine as to who got through and once again our boys prevailed.
So on to the semifinals, where our boys met Gen-Pro A. Unfortunately, despite our boys' herculean efforts, they just could not overcome their semifinal opponents.
All was not lost though as after a count back (yes, we didn't understand that one either), our Under 10 Select Team boys, representing the Subang Jaya Community Sports Club (SJCSC) were declared 3rd place winners.
In addition to the 3rd placing, our boys also won the Hadiah Perpaduan, which in some ways is even more important, because this was a testament to the core values of our Club, which are UNITY, TEAMWORK, SPORTSMANSHIP, DISCIPLINE, SERVICE & FAMILY.
