Subang Jaya Community Youth Football League
a league for kids where no one is paid and everyone plays!
20 Nov, SMK USJ 4:- The Subang Jaya Community Youth Football League (SJCYFL) completed its 1st registration day for the 2012 season. A total of 130 participants were registered for the league which will commence in January and run until the end of May, 2012.
Despite the thunderstorm and heavy downpour, that Subang Jaya is so famous for, it was not enough to deter parents and guardians from coming out to ensure that their children were registered in this community project that is now running in its 12th year. “What made it amazing was that we managed to get that number even with the thunderstorm,” said a very pleased Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, League Coordinator for SJCYFL. “It would have been a higher turnout if it wasn't for the rain,” he added.
Another parent, who has had 2 boys in the league for several years and also volunteers as a coach, also expressed surprise at the large number of registrations this time around.
To add to the carnival like atmosphere, the Subang Jaya Community Sports Club (SJCSC) hosted the inaugural Quad Invitational friendly with teams coming from Shah Alam, Bangi and as far as Singapore for the Under 8s, Under 10s and Under 12s. Those who came for the registration were treated to a spectacle of football skills and camaraderie.
As an added service to parents, a table was also set up where parents could order children sized football boots and size 4 footballs at very reasonable prices.
At the end of the first round of registration, there were only 28 places left for the Junior Division, 27 places for the Major Division, 24 places for the Senior Division and 55 places for the Premier Division.
“I encourage parents to take the opportunity to register their kids before it’s too late. Last season, we had to turn away disappointed kids, as several divisions were totally filled up,” Zaini advised. The next registration day will be held on 11 December.
